Climate/Topography: Nestled in between the towering Sierra Madre mountains and the glistening waters of the Acapulco Bay, Acapulco offers beautiful landscapes, tranquil bays and lagoons, green mountains, spectacular sunsets and nearly 10 kilometers of beaches with warm, clear water. Resort activities center around three areas. Beginning south of Acapulco Bay (near the airport) is the Playa Revolcadero area. Once the private domain of the Princess and Pierre Marques resorts, this long flat stretch of open ocean beach (backed by an enormous tropical lagoon) is now home to the Vidafel resort complex. Just to the north (between the airport and Acapulco Bay) is the Puerto Marques area. This tranquil bay is the site of a multi-million dollar self-contained development that includes resort hotels, golf courses, condos, and marinas. And finally, there is Acapulco Bay, a curvaceous, mountain-framed natural harbor that rivals Rio de Janeiro and Hong Kong for natural beauty. A highway descends from the steep cliffs of the bay's southern end, becoming the coastal Avenida Miguel Aleman, also known as the Costera. This is the heart of Acapulco's "resort strip" and home to nearly all of Acapulco's high rise hotels, non-stop nightlife, dining, and shopping. The costera continues north along the bay toward Old Acapulco and the downtown area.

Dress Description: Dress in Cancun is very casual with the accent on comfort. Remember to pack comfortable walking shoes. The activities at the hotels and the area dictate sporting clothes. In the evenings, you may want to dress up, but not too much. Rubber soled shoes are recommended for tours to archeological sites. Dress Description: Light, casual dress is appropriate for nearly all occasions in Mexico. Long pants and a casual shirt are generally worn by men at the more up-scale restaurants and clubs at night; women wear informal dresses and skirts. However, Mexico has some particular customs regarding appropriate dress for certain situations: bathing suits (particularly for women) should not be worn away from the beach or resort areas; shorts should never be worn when entering a church; flashy or suggestive clothing is inappropriate in smaller resorts and inland cities.

Climate/Topography: The Huatulco topography is formed by mountains, valleys and slopes, and is quite rough and uneven. The land formations are irrigated by the Coyula, San Augustin and Copalita Rivers, giving a very special touch to the magnificent landscape where the nine beautiful bays are located. One of the many advantages of Huatulco is the climate: warm semi-humid, with a year-round average temperature of 82°F. Winter's temperature is never below 57°F, whereas late Spring's and Summer's maximum temperatures increase to 100°F.

Golf Courses: The 18-hole Tangolunda Golf Course plays about 6800 yards through the beautiful Tangolunda development. Obstacles include fairway trees and water, making the course fairly challenging. Rates vary--approximately $80 for 18 holes.
Handicap Information: Mexican facilities have improved somewhat for handicapped travelers, though the lack of ramping/elevators/sidewalks coupled with a preponderance of concrete steps can make Mexican travel cumbersome.
