We loved our stay at the Bahia --- the resort is stunning, the staff amazing and pleasant, the food fantastic and filling! *we gained a few pounds and amazing tans*  ... what else can we say???? We were truly amazed and beyond satisfied.

The manager of the hotel (Mike) and Greg have been in touch via the email system it seems, planning a birthday surprise for me.  Mike had set up a beautiful dinner at the Grille Steak restaurant for us, where they had us sit in the middle of the room ... the staff with the maitre'd brought out Greg's surprise: a HUGE bouquet of 34 red roses arranged with some local exotic flowers.  Everyone was amazed because from what I heard roses were extremely hard to get in Punta Cana (everyone stared at the flowers because they have never seen so many roses in one bouquet!). They treated us like royalty, waiting on us hand and foot the entire night.  The staff sang Happy Birthday as they carried in a special cake for me, written in English.  The meal and celebration ended with a bottle of champagne courtesy of the restaurant manager!!  I was practically in tears. The entire set up was heart warming - what a great man I have and what great people at the Bahia!

The room they set us up in was at the top floor close to the pool -- near the beach as we wanted.  It was perfect! Honestly Marcy, this vacation was better than the previous one last year. If you can swing this resort for us next year for a similar price -- let us know!

Also keep us in mind for something tropical from December 26 to January 2, 2005   *(Mexico, Punta Cana, etc.) -- all inclusive for around $800-900. "We had a wonderful time at the Barceló Maya Resort. The trip was too short but the next time will be for a week. The resort is beautiful, the food is excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Dirty plates never stayed long on the table. Everything was clean and well kept. I would highly recommend this resort. The Apple Vacations Tour Group seem to be on top of things. The weather was hot but the breeze made it very comfortable and we had no rain while we were there. "Hi Frank! I was going to e-mail you yesterday, but you know how your first day back can be! To sum it up – we loved it! The only complaint we had was they never had enough golf clubs at the mini-golf! But we still managed to play almost every night! The beach was wonderful, as were the pools. Our room was in a good location in Building #1 facing away from the pool, so we had no noise (except for the various birds in the “jungle” behind us). Barbara did have to change her room after the first couple of days as she was very close to the theatre and the noise was keeping her awake. The food in the different buffets was good (so good I think I gained 5 pounds, at least!). We ate in the Mexican restaurant one night (good food, great service), but the Spanish restaurant was booked every night until 9:00, so we passed on that one. I can’t say enough about the service we received throughout the whole resort – everyone from the grounds keepers to the servers to the maids were so friendly and helpful.

I also want to tell you how much we enjoyed the flight over and back. The pilot on the way to Mexico was so informative and funny! He kept coming on the intercom giving us updates, which was a welcome change from most flights I’ve been on. All in all – it was a wonderful vacation! We would not hesitate a second to go back there; as a matter of fact, we were talking when we would book it for next year. Thanks for all your help. "Hi Frank and Marcy. Attached are three photos. The first (121) is the scene at 6 am sunrise where I did myTai Chi and this is also the spot we spent most of the week. The second photo (048) was taken on a tour I took. The Myan/Coba all day 9-6:30 tour. We visited ancient ruins and real Mayan families. Fantastic. About $70. The last photo is of Debbie and John W. This shows most of the beach but not all of it. If you couldn't find an activity, food, or drink to your liking, there something is wrong. The Apple Vacations tour folks were wonderful. Always helpful. You didn't even have to think about any details. They would direct you to the correct place and fill you in on details of what to expect and what to do or not do. 

I had a few problems, the safe wouldn't work and I had to have my room changed because I was directly in line with the disc/theatre area that played loud music starting at 10 pm. The service people were at my door with in minutes of a phone call. They fixed everything quickly and were kind. They even sent flowers to me before the safe was fixed. (Batteries had to be replaced).  I have already recommended the Barcelo/Maya Beach to some folks. They may be contacting you. No one wanted to leave. I did talk a lot to the locals. We had a wonderful breeze on the beach. They said come June - August it can get really hot because there is less breeze. They also said the place holds 1000 people and they have over 1000 in staff. 

There were people picking up leaves, raking the beach, cutting down coconuts and keeping the landscape perfect all day. The other nice thing was there was a jungle-type garden with foot paths between each building so your view was blocked of the people in the building across from your building. The fresh fish of the day was outstanding. The food was everything from hotdogs to prime rib with lots of choices. PS. There were scales in the rooms. 

The best part of the beach for the time of the year we went was that there were plenty of lounge chairs for everyone and there were shady areas under the coconut trees right by the water. The sand did not get hot either. Its very fine and white.
I loved it and would go back. I would also like a place that would be more primitive (huts on the beach and food service) where there is no crowd or music. I like quiet as you can see. Hope you enjoy the photos. It was a great experience and only 3 hours from home." Barbara D 

Catalonia Riviera Maya    See the Resort

"Thank you, It was awesome!!! The value for the money couldn't be beat!!! There was an Apple Vacations person waiting for us at the airport and set up transportation for us. Check in at the hotel was quick and without a glitch. It was very smooth and stress free.

There was always something to do at the hotel. Plenty to eat and drink at all times. The food was great, especially at the al a carte restaurants. Our room was clean and well kept, the hotel grounds were beautiful and well kept. The beach was not as nice as some but we aren't big ocean swimmers anyway, so we relaxed by the ocean listening to the waves and went swimming in the pools, which were very nice.

The area was beautiful and the people were very friendly and helpful. We did the Coba/ Mayan village tour on Friday. It was interesting but a little bit too much information for us. It was an all day Mayan culture history lesson which we really weren't expecting but live and learn, right? We went to Playa and shopped, went to Cozumel and rented a scooter and rode around the island. Cozumel was amazing and the afternoon on the scooter was fun and refreshing in the hot sun. I highly recommend doing this if ever given the opportunity. If we go back to this area Cozumel will probably be our destination. 

We went on the snorkel adventure tour out of Puerto Morales ( I think that's how you spell it). This was probably the highlight of our vacation. We had never snorkeled before and the next thing we knew we were on a boat riding out in the ocean to the 2nd largest reef in the world, jumping in the water and seeing some of the most amazing things. We saw a lot of colorful fish, coral, and sponges. Some in our group saw a 5ft nurse shark resting on the bottom. We saw 2 weird things that I think were cuddle fish or some weird type of squid that we snorkeled right over the top of and they just sat there suspended in the water and followed us with their eyes as we went by. We got to feed a school of large colorful fish and saw a couple of barracuda. It was incredible and well worth the $75 a person. We had an underwater camera but the pictures just aren't the same as seeing it. 

We also hung out up town in Puerto Aventuras which was very nice and relaxing. Rode bikes, kayaked in the lagoon, saw a bunch of lizards and iguanas, the orchids were blooming, etc. The weather was great all week up until the last evening, it drizzled from about 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. but that gave us a good excuse to take it easy and relax the night before going home.

All in all this was a great vacation, it was very reasonable priced and I would like to thank you guys for setting us up. This was a vacation that we will never forget. We did not want to leave and after getting back and seeing our kids and everything we missed we wanted to go back to Mexico!! Thanks again." Randy and Lilia

Club Maeva   See the Resort

"I was going to e-mail you. We got back to our house around 9 p.m. on Thursday. The trip was FANTASTIC!!! Unbelievable. The beach was paradise. Everything was great...the flights, customs, the resort, the food, the staff, the transportation, etc. We stayed at El Publito (sp?) in 1998 in Cancun [with a different travel agency] and it was horrible. Club Maeva was awesome. We enjoyed the buffets, the pool and the work-out facilities. We did yoga on the pier, kayaked (free) on the ocean and saw all of the shows each night. The entertainment isn't the greatest but acceptable. The young people that do the entertainment actually sit and eat with you at times. They are sooooo friendly. They are always willing to discuss anything and everything. So although the shows are just okay, they become better after "getting-to-know" all about the individuals who do the performing. They really try hard and work from 9 a.m. until midnight with only 1 day off per week. We enjoyed the "River Dance" show. We paid $35 through the resort to have a guided snorkeling tour. There was only one other couple with us. The boat ride took us to a bay about 25 minutes away. We saw two sharks, lots of sea turtles, a squib, and lots of neat fish. We were a little queasy since we were out on the water floating for 90 minutes, but it was worth the money. Our guide was very interested in us seeing everything that we could. 

Club Maeva was about 60 minutes from the airport but we enjoyed the drive. We talked to other Apple Vacations Vacations vacationers that stayed at Club Maeva, Copacobana, and Iberostar. They all said nothing but great things. 

We did make reservations at the restaurant on our last night. It was VERY difficult to get the reservation...you had to be in line the day before by 6:50 a.m. to get a reservation. The dinner was nice. We met lots of really nice couples. The bars were fabulous. The grounds are kept very neat and clean. The beach towels are wonderful...big and thick. Bottled water was available at ALL times. 

Cancun is the "party" zone and we were pleased to not be in all of that...although Club Maeva had lots of fun things happening. We partied one afternoon in the pool with the staff and about 50 bottles of champagne and shrimp!!! We would even take our girls next time. Lots of people had their children with them. (Although we enjoyed some alone time.) All in all, Club Maeva was fabulous. Truly, I would recommend Club Maeva to anyone interested in a great vacation.

Fiesta Palace was great and the vacation was too short. My boyfriend (now fiancé - he proposed while we were there) did not want to come back.

We got an ocean view room. It was beautiful. We were right by the beach. The weather was great. All three hotels in the Fiesta Resort are beautiful. Fiesta Palace has the best ocean view rooms compare to the other hotels. We used the facilities at the other hotels. The food in all the restaurants was great. All we did was eat, drink and lay underneath a palm tree all day. I was not crazy about the entertainment but everything else was great.

I can truly say that we had the best time. Not counting the first 2 days because it rained all day Saturday and most of Sunday. In fact it rained so hard on Sunday that the rooms on the bottom floor were flooded out along with the restaurants. The next 5 days were sunny and hot and we spent most of the day either by the pool or at the beach which was nice and wide with plenty of huts for shade. We met another couple with girls the same age as ours and hung out with them all week. Our room was great. We were on the 4th floor, ocean view, and by the pool (perfect). The service was great and the food was OK. Most importantly our kids had the best time at the Kids Camp swimming, making piñatas, face painting and playing at the beach. It also gave us some private times for ourselves. We met my parents in Playa Del Carmen on Wednesday and went shopping. Thank you again and we will be in touch as we are planning on going to Punta Cana in the fall."

Hotel Cozumel / Brisas was no different than it was last May and I'm glad we stayed there. Many people who booked scheduled air over the New Year were not able to get flights home on their scheduled dates and the airlines were putting them up in different hotels for up to 3 days longer and food included. Amazing how many people were complaining of having their vacations extended and paid for and in the Caribbean. We ran into a family we knew from Wausau at our resort our 1st full day and the mother made a snobby comment to me of "well we were staying at a really nice resort and then they sent us here when there was no room on the plane." We had a terrific time in Cozumel. The dirty monkeys were great, the resort was beautiful, the food was wonderful, the service was supreme and we had a concierge in our building which was right beside the quiet pool and very near the dive shop, pool and beach!! It was near perfection!! Thanks so much for all you did to make our trip so nice. We never did see Marcial. Maybe we didn't look in the right place and I wasn't sure how to ask for him. We were invited to a resort manager's dinner at Olivo's which was very nice. We were asked to make suggestions on improvements to the resort which we couldn't think of many. The biggest one for me would be to have an updated internet system. The server kept going down, after I put my money in of course. I spent about 30 dollars for probably 5 minutes of actual email time. But it is Mexico after all. We rented a car and toured the whole way around Cozumel island. So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What pictures I got!! I'll have to email you a couple. 

We went snorkeling right there at the resort, took the trip with the dive shop there, and also went to Dzul Ha four times to snorkel. That was so beautiful, although there was a barracuda there that I was sure wanted to eat me. We really had a wonderful vacation. Nothing to worry about but what we wanted to do for the day, or the moment, more accurately! Thanks again for all your help and we'll definitely call you when we are ready for our trip next year. Any suggestions? We like to snorkel in beautiful water like in Cozumel, like to stay at nice places, and need nice warm weather like Cozumel. We try to go to different places all the time so if you have any place suggestions, let us know. Thank you for the warm welcome back home...it was a nice message upon arrival as my head was still in Mexico. I (we) had a BLAST!! The hotel accommodations and staff were all so great. The food and drinks were delicious, and I still miss my favorite breakfast dish (the one with tortilla and some type of sauce with cheese and a little tomato ... yum. I reflect to the beach, sand and sun. Here in New Mexico I usually get a tan, but it is the color of chocolate. My tan from Mexico was golden, and a very warm tan. I have received MANY commits from people about my tan.

I would like to take my adult daughters with me (maybe next year). They need to go. What is the best package? Alicia also told me about a package in a Cozumel hotel which was very affordable, and a beautiful hotel. "Yes we had a great time. It was touch and go for me to find out if I could go or not. I was in the hospital for 7 days prior and my Dr finally released me at 9:30 PM on 6/3 and we had to be at the airport at 5:30 AM on 6/4...... so I was really happy to go. We enjoyed the Reef club and would probably go back. We've not done an all inclusive before, so that was different for us. If you drink, its a great deal, but since were not, it was kinda on the "loud" side for me, but found a quiet side of the beach where I could get away from the party atmosphere. The hotel room was nicely appointed and pretty big. Not a great view (back of buildings), but we were on the 3rd floor which is the top floor and had a beautiful cathedral ceiling with a huge mirror set sideways on the ceiling. That really gave the room openness. We loved the mini-bar frig. The beach was fantastic. It was so nice to see waves in the Caribbean. No problem finding chairs at the beach or pool. Food was great. I really enjoyed it. It got a little crowded at the buffet lines and some travelers from other countries don't quite get the "there's a line" concept. The drinks were wonderful and plentiful and we loved the bartenders in the lobby bar. We got a little attitude from the beach bar bartenders when we asked for mixed drinks, but that's about the only people that didn't go out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. The language barrier was a lot easier than I thought it would be. There was a little confusion at the Orlando airport during our boarding for BWI and it took over 45 minutes for the bags to start being unloaded. All in all, a perfect trip. We had a great time! We got home yesterday at about 5:00 and I still haven't been able to get back into the swing of things! The Riu Palace Riviera Maya was awesome.  We were very happy with how clean the room was and how great the service was. I always had a fully stocked bar of Corona's.  Plus I enjoyed the food at every meal. Don Julian's was great, El Patio was great, and Sir Edwards was very good (even though it was a little too formal for my tastes).  And the beach was spectacular.  I took about an hour walk each day and saw a lot of interesting sites. Leslie and I even had a full body massage right near the beach at sundown.  That was awesome.  We also did a day tour called the Mayan Adventure that included snorkeling with fish and stingrays near the reef's, snorkeling in an underground cave, and jumping off cliffs into a freshwater lagoon. The Riu Tequila was wonderful. We had such a good time there… the property was gorgeous and the people that worked there were the nicest we can ever meet. What a great group of people they have there. We did use the sister properties and they were just as nice but in a way I think we tended to like the Tequila better. The walk to the beach was no big deal actually. It didn’t bother us at all. The beach was so amazing!!! I would definitely go back to that section of Mexico. I was so amazed with all its beauty and how much it has to offer. All in all, the Riu properties have everything one is looking for. We are planning on traveling in September again to Jamaica. "Thank you very much for helping us find this deal!  Everything was fantastic!  They upgraded our room to a King with a balcony and sent us wine and fruit.  We had the best room in the hotel (or at least we think we did).  The food was excellent as well!  Buffets were offered as well as formal dining. The entertainment (which we weren't expecting) was fabulous!  They had entertainment at the pool area everyday and then offered night entertainment in the hotel including plays and dance shows.  Very cool!  Again, thank you very much!  We've already told all our friends and family about you guys to book their next vacation! "Vicki is planning on calling you. Prepare yourself for a one hour dissertation of positive comments. Thank you for the fruit basket & bottle of champagne, they treated us to a romantic dinner, complete with bat soup. Yes, the waitress told us it was bat soup after we stared eating. I finished it, Vicki did not.

The room was clean, the air conditioning worked great. The Chateaubriand was outstanding, the spaghetti restaurant had good Italian, (recommend: half Bolognese, half Abriata.)

Two sprinkles all week, one was just as we went to bed. Absolutely no complaints. Will we recommend Secrets and your company to others: absolutely. The only complaints I had were that the plane was too warm on the return. We both mentioned that on the Apple Vacations survey." Vicki P.

Sunscape Casa del Mar   See the Resort

"Dear Marcy and Frank,
I don't even know where to begin. The vacation could not have been more perfect. My husband and I would recommend the Casa del Mar to anyone. The staff was friendly, the resort was well kept, and the spa was wonderful!!! 

I had a peppermint seaweed twist body wrap on Tuesday and was so pleased that I brought my husband back the next day and we had a couples massage overlooking a natural spring in the 'Ecological Spa'. The Ecological spa is separate from the main spa. It is set back in an area that is away from the rest of the resort with soft music playing and massage huts dispersed throughout. Our massage hut was actually on a ledge over a spring with sea turtles, fish, and ducks. The hut even had a ceiling fan and the temperature was very comfortable despite the heat outside.

Paul and I were selected (because we were celebrating our Anniversary) to have dinner on the pier with three other couples and the manager of the resort. The management wanted to hear our comments and suggestions. Honestly, the only suggestion we had was to add ceiling fans to the rooms. We are used to the constant humming and it would help cut down on the noise you hear through the walls from other rooms.

The food was wonderful and I drank so many Banana Mammas that I was waiting for the bartenders to just bring them to me on the beach. This was by far the most relaxing vacation I have ever had. Thank you so much for all of your help. We will be booking with you again. Thanks again." Shellie M.
