Aruba offers a choice of two golf courses, The Aruba Golf Club and Tierra del Sol. The Aruba Golf Club presents the challenge of the Caribbean's most unusual course, with oiled sand greens, ever-present trade winds, and an occasional goat as a live hazard. Located at the opposite end of the island near San Nicolas, the club features a 9-hole course with 20 sand traps and 5 water traps. Tierra del Sol is Aruba's first world-championship, 18-hole Par 71 course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the Tierra del Sol is just a few minutes from all of the major resorts, set into the rocky, cactus-studded terrain of the island's northwest corner. This is one of only two golf courses in the world to be bordered by both desert and ocean. Just beyond the 12th hole, stark desert dunes roll away toward the windward coast. The Lucayan uses water hazards sparingly, and the tift dwarf greens remain protected by classic bunkers similar to Cog Hill in Chicago, and Shinnecock Hills on Long Island. Our Lucaya also offers The Reef Course, a new links style course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Home of the PGA Senior Slam event, The Reef is at 6,930 yards from the championship tees, with water making its presence felt on 13 of 18 holes. Punta Cana offers a choice of four wonderful golf courses, The Bávaro Resort Golf Club, The Cocotal Golf & Country Club, The Catalonia Cabeza de Toro Golf Club, and The Punta Cana Golf Club.

The Bávaro Resort Golf Club offers an 18-hole course designed by Juan Manuel Gordillo. Located along the eastern coast, wind comes into play on this par 72, 6,557-yard course that is part of the Bávaro Resort complex. Situated alongside the Bavaro lagoon, this is a flat and very playable course with many water hazards, usually in excellent condition and built with the enjoyment of the resort tourist in mind. Guests normally need to reserve tee times at least 24-hours in advance, for more info call 809-686-5797.

The Cocotal Golf & Country Club is the first Caribbean golf course built by the Sol Melia Group. It opened in December 1999 and was designed by the renowned Spanish architect Jose "Pepe" Gancedo. This 27 hole course provides instruction classes for beginners, as well as handicap improvement courses for the more experienced players. Surrounding the Sol Melia resort complex, the course was once a coconut plantation, built around serene lakes and swaying coconut trees. The 3,380-yard Gold tees have a rating of 75.2, with a Slope of 131. The 3,203-yard Blue tees have a rating of 73.1, with a Slope of 130. The 2,993-yard White tees have a rating of 71, with a Slope of 126. And the 2,563-yard Red tees have a rating of 73.1, with a Slope of 128. The Cocotal also offers a Club House, pro-shop, driving range and pitch & putt area.

The Catalonia Cabeza de Toro Golf Club offers Punta Cana's newest course, located at the Catalonia Bavaro Resort. Situated near the oceanfront and integrated into a wonderful tropical landscape, five lakes and many shade trees define this short but challenging course. With wide fairways that are easy to play, this course was designed for novice and experienced golfers, alike. The Punta Cana Golf Club is just 10 minutes from the airport, and is the first championship-caliber layout in Punta Cana. This 18-hole, 7,152-yard layout features 7 holes on the ocean, and 14 with ocean views. This course was designed by P.B. Dye, whose father Pete Dye created the legendary Dientes del Perro, or "Teeth of the Dog," in 1971. As a teenager, Dye spent two summers helping his father build the course. Thirty years and 36 golf courses later, Dye returned to the Dominican Republic to design and build a beachfront course for Frank Rainieri, the Dominican businessman whose vision and hard work has made Punta Cana a popular vacation destination. Sculpted from the foothills of the western Jamaican coastline, the course has an international reputation for being challenging and beautiful. The Ocean Course at Wyndham Rose Hall is renowned for its imaginative layout and historic site, with a bedeviling Par 4 8th hole only 322 yards from the rear tees, but ominously close to the Caribbean along its left-hand side. This challenging, recently renovated 18-hole Par 72 course stretches to 6,590 yards, with breathtaking views of Jamaica's Blue Mountains and the Caribbean Sea.

The White Witch Golf Course winds through the mountains of Jamaica's historic 4,000 acre Rose Hall Plantation, along 200 acres of lush greenery and rolling countryside, with panoramic views of the ocean, mountains and island. Located at The Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall, this 6,800-yard 18 hole Robert von Hagge design is set along 1,500 feet of beachfront, with multiple tee locations and dramatic elevation changes.

Tryall Golf Course is a 6,221-yard, Par 72 course widely considered among the finest in the Caribbean. Tryall attracts the game's leading players and prestigious international events, like the Johnnie Walker World Championships, Mazda Champions, Jamaica Classic and Shell's Wonderful World of Golf. The Superclubs Breezes Runaway Bay Course is a Par 72, 18-hole championship course offering an exhilarating experience for beginners and accomplished golfers alike. Designed by Commander John Harris, the course was opened in 1960 and features sand bunkers, long rolling fairways, and large flat greens protected by grassy mounds. The host of many championship events, the course measures 5,389 yards and is slope rated 117 from the forward trees. From the back it measures 6,870 yards and is slope rated 124. The course is well trapped, protecting it from certain errand shots and wind gusts of up to 35 mph. Guests of the resort receive unlimited greens fees and complimentary entrance to the on-site golf school.

Acapulco offers four 18-hole courses, all near the airport, and a 9-hole course close to the convention center.

The Tres Vidas Golf & Country Club boasts one of the most magnificent beachfront facilities in the world. Designed by renowned architect Robert van Hagge, this par 72, 18-hole course is located just five minutes south of the city. The course hugs the Pacific Ocean, with five of its greens extending over the beach. It also features nine lakes, "moguls," palm trees and sand traps. It has been the home of the PGA Chrysler Cup Tournament. The Club features a restaurant, cafeteria, dressing rooms, lounge, swimming pool, bar, pro shop and an exclusive beach.

The Mayan Palace offers an 18-hole par-72 course (for public and private use) that blends in with its natural environment, featuring lakes and gardens that surround the greens. The course's avant-garde layout, which features many dunes and other distinguishing characteristics, is by the well-known golf designer/architect Guereka. Accommodations at the resort include deluxe hotel rooms, villas and condominiums. Located five minutes from Acapulco's International Airport, the club offers golf classes, there's a pro shop, a high quality Tennis Center, and restaurant/bar located on-site.

The Acapulco Princess course is a Percy Clifford design that is mostly flat, with lots of trees, water hazards on 12 holes, and sand bunkers. The greens, of mostly medium size, are protected by at least 2 traps, which are sometimes ponds, so you will also find a number of water-carries. Included in Golf Digest's "25 Greatest Golf Resorts," The Acapulco Princess course has been host to eight PGA sectional pro-am tournaments, as well as pro-am events from Canada, England and Germany. A pro shop, dining facility, full driving range, school-type practice areas, rental clubs and shoes are available. Guests and non-guests can play the course. Golf carts are mandatory, lessons and tournaments can be arranged.

The Pierre Marques course was originally designed by Percy Clifford, and redesigned by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. in 1982 for the World Cup Golf Tournament. Jones made changes to 65 bunkers and added a number of mounds, resulting in a difficult, mostly flat course where wind is definitely a factor, with plenty of mature trees and water on 13 holes. Guests and non-guests can play the course. Golf carts are mandatory, a pro shop and dining facility are available. Lessons and tournaments can be arranged.

Club de Golf Acapulco is a 9-hole municipal course located near the Acapulco Center. Acapulco's first public golf club is conveniently located on the Costera Manuel Aleman, and includes a pro shop, swimming pool, and restaurant. At present, the Cancun Hotel Zone offers two championship 18-hole golf courses, and The Melia Cancun and Oasis Cancun each have short but fun Par 3 courses open to play for both guests and non-guests. Additionally, the Riviera Maya offers an 18-hole course in Playa del Carmen, and a 9-hole course in Puerto Aventuras. 

Pok-Ta-Pok artistically incorporates hundreds of meters of dramatic shoreline and ancient Mayan ruins into a flat yet challenging course that winds past Cancun's saltwater lagoon and turquoise Caribbean waters. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed this scenic 18-hole course, which is conveniently located in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Los Cabos is home to four world-class championship golf courses.
The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol has been called one of the five most beautiful in the world. A Jack Nicklaus signature course, this spectacular masterpiece is referred to as "the Pebble Beach of Baja," and features seven holes on the Sea of Cortés. Cabo del Sol skirts the shore of the Sea of Cortés, and is situated at Playa Barco Varado, about halfway between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Ranked among the "Top 100 Courses in the World" by Golf Magazine, the course was host to the 1996 Shell Wonderful World of Golf and the 1995 and 1998 SENIOR PGA TOUR Senior Slam.

The Palmilla Golf Club was also designed by Jack Nicklaus, offering golfers spectacular views of the Sea of Cortčz from nearly every hole as it winds through centuries old cardon cacti and rugged desert mountain terrain, making each hole a memorable experience for golfers of every skill level. The course is divided into the Arroyo Nine, the Mountain Nine and the Ocean Nine. The five sets of staggered tee boxes ensure golfers, from beginners to professionals, an exciting game.

Cabo Real is an 18-hole, par 72 championship layout located by the beach, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. It plays 6,945 yards and is definitely not for short hitters. Almost every hole has a wonderful view of the Sea of Cortés, with the 15th right on the beach. With four tees per hole, the course provides plenty of hardships for the low-handicap player, yet can be fun for the average golfer.

The Cabo San Lucas Country Club offers a challenging Par 72, 18-hole course designed by Pete Dye. With an idyllic setting overlooking Land's End, this magnificent course features waste deep bunkers, subtle terracing, and a 607-yard par five (the longest golf hole in Mexico). Dye said the 72-par course is a challenge for golfers on all levels, because with the multiple tee boxes, it can range from a very short course to a rather challenging one with enough hazards, obstacles and bunkers to make it interesting.

Golf has quickly become a major attraction here. Where else can you catch a marlin in the morning, play eighteen holes, and still be home by early afternoon?

Manzanilla (about...)

La Mantarraya Golf Club Club at Las Hadas Golf Resort is an 18-hole course with a great layout and a world of potential. Considered by many to be one of the best in Latin America, this magnificent course has been rated one of the world's top 100 by Golf Digest, which remarked, "The Las Hadas Golf Course is the only course in the world worth flying 3,000 miles to play." Designed by Roy and Pete Dye, the course is located next to the Las Hadas Resort, and offers plenty of water and palm trees, wide fairways, light shallow rough, 11 water holes, and a spectacular #18 hole, which is an Island green built on the ocean. The course also has a green with a trap in the middle (#2), and another with the green in the middle of a trap (#10). In addition to championship golf, visitors will also find outstanding clubhouse facilities and an excellent tennis center.

Isla Navidad offers one of the most beautiful and spectacular courses in all of Latin America, with 27 world-class holes designed by renowned architect Robert von Hagge. With an unusually long ocean frontage, its design is a blend of golfing challenge and beauty, as wind, light, and surface variance challenge different skill levels on greens that extend into the lagoon or the mountains, having as their backdrop magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. The tee boxes are better than 90% of the greens in the U.S., and the fairways are like an emerald carpet. The three 9's at Isla Navidad consists of the Ocean 9, the Mountain 9, and the Lagoon 9.

Club Santiago is a small, semi-private course located at Club Santiago. Designed by Larry Hughes, this 9-hole course takes you throughout a valley, behind the foothills of Manzanillo, and around a large salt-water lagoon.

El Tamarindo Country Club is a spectacular 18-hole championship course which borders the ocean, and has been carefully landscaped to blend in with the natural beauty of the tropical rainforest and surrounding areas. The site contains a tremendous nature preserve, with spectacular plant diversity and exciting view corridors that rival the greatest golf courses of the world. The jungle holes wander through valleys of giant native trees, which, according to nature's calendar, explode into an incredible color display of tropical blooms. Where the course exits the jungle onto three breathtaking ocean front holes, more shots are taken with cameras than golf clubs. The ocean is seen from nine holes with spectacular beaches and crashing surf. Designed by David N. Fleming, El Tamarindo is about an hour's drive north of Manzanillo.

Club de Golf Campestre is a 30 year old local 9-hole course nestled in the colonias of the city, about 15 minutes from the Golden Zone. The course sports two sets of tees, giving a new look to each hole. Its 6,597 yards are complemented by small greens (in perfect condition), which are very well bunkered. This course will test your abilities. One of the three legs of the Sinaloa state golf tournament is held here each year. Caddies are available at the course and the members and employees will make you feel incredibly welcome. Electric or gas carts will probably not be available. The clubhouse has snacks and a full bar. Golf is increasingly becoming a way of life in Puerto Vallarta, where enthusiasts will find two very challenging public courses.

The Marina Vallarta Golf Club is a Par 71, 18-hole championship course designed by renowned course architect, Joe Fingers. Its magnificent views of Banderas Bay, abundant wildlife, and natural obstacles (such as waterfalls, palms and natural lagoons) have made it increasingly popular in the last few years. It has twice been the site of the Governor's Cup Pro/Am Tournament, as well as other important golfing events. The facilities include a driving range, putting green, golf lessons, golf shop and full-service clubhouse. The golf course is part of the luxurious Marina Vallarta hotel and condominium complex, and is only a short walk from such hotels as the Westin Regina, Melia Puerto Vallarta, Marriott Casa Magna, and Velas Vallarta Grand Suite.

The Flamingos Golf Club offers a Par 72 championship course designed by Percy Clifford. Located in the north part of the bay, about eight miles north of the airport, this picturesque course offers a wide array of facilities, including a driving range, putting green, snack bar, golf lessons and tennis courts. Visitors will also find a handsome stucco clubhouse, and a pro-shop overlooking rolling hills that fade toward the ocean. The Riviera Maya offers an 18-hole course in Playa del Carmen, and a 9-hole course in Puerto Aventuras.

Playacar Golf Club is located just 45 minutes south of Cancun, and was designed by Robert Von Hagge. This 7,202-yard course is rated 73.1, and has plenty of tee boxes for every level of play. It features long narrow fairways and undulating greens that are protected by very large snow-white sand bunkers. This course is situated next to Playa del Carmen, in the exclusive Playacar development. Approximate green fees are $100 - $120 for 18 holes.

Puerto Aventuras Golf Club is a beautiful Par 36 jungle course designed in 1991 by Thomas Leman. One of the best kept secrets in the area, the fairways and greens are covered by a smooth carpet of Bermuda grass, and surrounded by Palm trees, bugambilias, tropical ficus and lush foliage. St. Lucia

Two golf courses: the Sandals La Toc, and the Cap Estate public course, which is run by the Cap Estate Golf Club. The Cap Estate Club offers a nine-hole course, which can also be played as 18. The clubhouse has a fully-stocked bar and pro shop. Temporary memberships, lessons from the resident pro, and golfing equipment are available.

 St John & St. Thomas

Mahogany Run Golf Course. This Tom Fazio-designed, par-70, 18-hole course overlooks the Atlantic ocean with a view of the neighboring British Virgin Islands beyond. Most spectacular is the Devil's Triangle - a trio of holes so challenging that golfers who play through them without a penalty shot earn a prize in the pro shop. Overall, the course has rolling hills, tropical valleys and greens that are really green, thanks to a recently completed multi-million dollar renovation which included a brand new irrigation system.
